Between 2018 and 2021, FoAM Filfla experimented at the intersection of art and circular economies within the Island state of Malta in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, being part of Europe but tectonically based on the African shelf.

Liminal futures

FoAM Filfla has embarked on a programme of self-study to better understand the tools and techniques for creative exploration of futures. In response to the liminality brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, we collect, document and experiment with future-probing methods for teens, young adults and culture makers in Malta and beyond.

the passage - nightly build

nightly build is a tiny A7 sized photocopied zine that fits in the palm of your hand so you can always carry it with you. It is a collaborative collection of thoughts, writings, prose, poetry, drama, problems, solutions, images, photos, drawings, circuits, concepts, interpretations, illustrations, dreams or philosophical fragments about the theme of this issue — the passage.People who collaborate receive a freshly printed zine straight to their letterbox. You can find a digital version for printout or e-reader in the attached documents.

Tasting tomorrow

Tasting Tomorrow is a series of futuring workshops about food as a manifestation of Maltese and European diversity. Together with local experts and enthusiasts we explored the question “What might a thriving food culture in Malta look like?”

Hosting and Process Facilitation

We facilitate participatory processes and guide groups of people to work together on complex issues.

Open Studio at FoAM Kernow

FoAM's first network-wide Open Studio happened during our international meeting in September 2018, this year hosted by FoAM Kernow in Falmouth, Flushing and Penryn. It brought together people from the network and facilitated connections between the FoAM members, local organisations, professionals and friends.
