Ghost Gardening

OpenCall for an experiment on 2 and 3 november exploring animal behaviour through puppetry.

Just 3 or 4 participants!

Much like in theater plays like LionKing, we'll work as a small team bringing one or two animals to life as a form of design research and experimental ecology.

First day we build. Second day we practice and take our animal into the Amstelpark at Zone2Source.

Background:

In Arts of Living on a Damaged Planet: Ghosts and Monsters of the Anthropocene, Anna Tsing describes how late industrial landscapes are haunted by gaps left behind when animals disappear or even become extinct. Disappearing means not only the physical absence of species, but also the vanished behavior, all these ways of being, the deep ecological connections of the organisms in connection with other animals, plants, seasons and processes in ecosystems.

We will explore these gaps through embodying an animal ghost.
